Photos of my first clutch of Blue Caps (3 fledgelings): Fledged 3/15/2007. All were banded at fledging with size C NFSS closed bands. They were parent raised and the first clutch for these parents (the parents are also older birds - I have had the father for many years).


It is hard to get a good shot in the aviary - they are good at hiding. I found a hole through the foliage to take this shot.


A rosy rump (top) checks out the new inhabitant.


This is spike. He/she still has pin feathers on the face
and fluff on the head. The silhouette really shows off
the mohawk. See below for a well-lit shot.


All three fledges (and Mom keeping an eye on me)!
